One Mach Data Centre (Cooroy) was affected by an upstream 3rd party carrier (PIPE) as a result of BGP routing errors in their equipment and services.
There was no fault with any Mach services nor any of the various carrier links to the DC which remained up, however we declared the incident as a P1 and responded immediately/accordingly. BGP routing paths provide automatic redundancy and failure recovery between all providers across the globe and in this instance, the failure took PIPE an extended period to resolve.
Total time frame that affected customer services were inaccessible via Public Internet routing was between 2.43pm to 3.18pm.
